Shin-Soo Choo Helps Rangers Break Out Of Offensive Duldrums

Went to the Rangers game two weeks ago and Shin-Soo Choo was hitting less than my dog weighs. Both of them actually. Combined.

But, just like that, his health improved and his spot in the lineup jumped and suddenly Choo at least beginning to resemble the table-setter the Rangers thought they were acquiring in 2014.

In April he hit a woeful .096, dented by slumps of 2-for-40 and 0-for-21. But in May he looks like a different player, and he’s a big reason the Rangers look like a better team.

In last night’s win over the Royals Choo had two more hits. He has an 11-game hitting streak, safely reaching in every May game. This month he’s 14-for-46 (.304). It’s bad news when you’re hitting .194. But it’s great news that you’ve raised your average almost 100 points in two weeks.

Thanks to awakenings from Choo and Adrian Beltre, a Rangers’ offense that not long ago had epidemic production problems is suddenly scoring runs, and winning games.
