Sean Lee on Falcons Stars: “We Didn't Stop Any of Them”

The Falcons' big three ran roughshod over the Cowboys in the second half Sunday

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee told reporters after the 39-28 loss to the Falcons on Sunday that the team’s defensive struggles came down to a simple lack of execution.

“Coming into the game, we knew we had to stop Julio [Jones], Matt Ryan and the running game,” Lee said, per Jean-Jacques Taylor of ESPN Dallas. “We didn’t stop any of them. That can’t happen. We have to play better.”

Indeed, one need look no further than the box score to get the idea that this wasn’t a great day for the made over, but currently injury hampered Dallas defense.

Ryan went 24-of-36 passing for 285 yards, two touchdowns and no picks, for a QBR of 93. Starting running back Devonta Freeman had 141 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries, and added another 52 on five catches. Jones had 164 yards and two touchdowns on 12 catches.

The Cowboys did get to Ryan once, as Lee recorded his first career sack (really) on Sunday, but after watching the Falcons score the final 25 points of the game we doubt he enjoyed the milestone all that much.
