Sean Lee Helps Childhood Friend Tackle Daughter's Fight For Life

Some newlyweds go on lavish honeymoons. Some couples register for Tupperware at Target. And others – like Cowboys’ linebacker Sean Lee – put those folks to shame.

Lee, who missed Dallas’ final three games last season because of a torn ligament in his neck, is again healthy and ready to fully participate in the team’s off-season activities. He’s also a married man, getting hitched back on March 22.

In lieu of wedding gifts, Lee and his bride, Megan, asked for financial donations to help the daughter of his childhood best friend, Jeff Roche. The baby girl was born in 2013 with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex and has undergone several surgeries, including the removal of a tumor from her brain.

“Our goal was to help raise some money so she could get the best medical care possible for her, so she can live the life that she deserves,” Lee told the Dallas Morning News. “She’s been an inspiration and Jeff has been an inspiration. We were blessed to have the opportunity to help.”

Whether in a helmet or a tuxedo, Sean Lee is a class act.

Here's hoping his gift in return is remaining healthy for a full season.

A native Texan who was born in Duncanville and graduated from UT-Arlington, Richie Whitt has been a mainstay in the Metroplex media since 1986. He currently lives in McKinney with his wife, Sybil, and two very spoiled dogs.
