Scott Linehan Not Worried About Dez Bryant's Absence

Bryant is staying away from Valley Ranch as he hopes for a long-term deal

Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan isn’t losing any sleep over Dez Bryant’s decision to stay away from Valley Ranch as most of the rest of the team goes through the offseason conditioning program.

He’ll be ready to rock and roll when it’s all said and done, I’m sure of that,” Linehan said, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas.

Bryant, unhappy that the Cowboys franchised him, hasn’t signed his tender--meaning his absence isn’t at all surprising. In fact, the Broncos are going through the exact same thing with DeMaryius Thomas.

In the mean time Bryant is working out independently and, according to Linehan, this actually benefits the younger receivers on the Cowboys’ roster.

“You’re kind of practicing on your depth and giving guys an opportunity to work with the first group,” Linehan said. “Normally that’s not going to happen. You’re kind of isolating that first group--Dez and [Jason Witten] and Terrance only at Z [receiver position]. Now I feel like it gives us a chance to kind of develop guys that normally would be working with the second or third group with our first group. You have to look at it as a great opportunity. I think it’s been really good for our guys.”
