Sammy Morris' Approach: “Help The Team Win”

Morris said this week that he would do whatever's asked of him, be that five or 20 carries

Going for 53 yards on 12 carries in the victory over the Bucs last week, Sammy Morris’ return to football went about as well as anyone could have expected.

Dallas picked Morris up off his couch, as they say, following the season-ending injury to DeMarco Murray. Before the call from Dallas, Morris had thought his career was over, following his release by the Patriots at the end of training camp this year. Now, with Felix Jones dealing with a hamstring injury, he could play a crucial role in Dallas’ push for a playoff berth.

Morris said this week that he’s ready for whatever role the Cowboys’ need him to fill, whether that be as the featured back or a change of pace--the latter of which he did with success against Tampa Bay--as they attempt to end the season in the playoffs.

“I’m just looking forward to doing my part to help the team win, to make a run at the playoffs,” Morris said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “It’s a crucial time of time of the year. We control our own destiny, and that’s pretty much what I’m looking forward to. I know that’s not interesting. But whether it’s five carries or 20 carries, that’s my approach: I’m helping the team win.”
