Sam Set For Dancing Reality Show

Michael Sam, who spent half of last season on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad before being cut loose in October, is back in the spotlight, but it's not for the reason he probably would most like.

Sam, who was drafted in the seventh round of last year's NFL draft as the league's first openly gay player, was cut by the team that drafted him (the Rams), then cut by the Cowboys, and is now trying to get a spot in the first-ever NFL veterans combine. But that will seemingly take a back seat, at least for now, as Sam was announced as a contestant on the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars."

Sam follows a line of former football players who were successful on the show, including the NFL's all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith, who won the coveted gold ball in his season.

If you remember, Sam was set to have his own reality show on Oprah's network but had a change of heart at the last minute because he wanted to avoid the distraction while he was trying to make the Rams' roster.

So you have to wonder what he would call this, if he truly does want to make a roster this year.
