Russell Wilson “Kind of Reminds” Belichick of Staubach

Belichick's father Steve was an assistant at Navy when Roger Staubach was quarterbacking the Midshipmen

Watching tape of Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson in preparation for the Super Bowl, New England Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick was reminded of Dallas Cowboys legend Roger Staubach--particularly in the way he is able to scramble out of trouble.

Belichick remembers Staubach well from his father Steve’s years as an assistant at the Naval Academy, where the man they called “Roger the Dodger” played his college ball. Staubach went on to win two Super Bowls with the Cowboys in the 1970s. Wilson will be going for his second Super Bowl Championship on February 1.

He kind of reminds me of watching [Roger] Staubach," Belichick said Tuesday, per ESPN. “I remember a lot of Staubach's spectacular running plays where it looked like he was about to get tackled by three or four guys, and he would Houdini it out of there somehow. You see Wilson doing some of the same things.”
