Royals Continue Parallels With 2010 Rangers

A few weeks ago, after the Kansas City Royals had swept away the Los Angeles Angels in the ALDS, we wrote about how the Royals were basically a reincarnation of the 2010 Texas Rangers that took baseball by storm out of the blue.

Now, the Royals can keep that up as they extend their unexpected run through the playoffs in the World Series against the San Francisco Giants. Of course, this is the Royals' second World Series appearance, but their first was 29 years ago — before many of the Royals' stars were even a twinkle and their parents' eyes. It was the Rangers first appearance back in 2010 against the Giants, who ended up topping Texas in just five games.

The Royals have already axed a bunch of the Rangers' bugaboos, starting with the Oakland A's in the AL Wild Card Game, then moving on to the Angels before sweeping the Baltimore Orioles — with several members of that 2010 Rangers team — and moving on to the Giants.

Remember how bananas the Rangers' park was in 2010? And that was after they'd fallen behind 2-0 in the series. So imagine what Kauffman Stadium will be like on Tuesday night. It's going to be a spectacle.
