Romo To Face ‘Skins for First Time Since Injury

Tony Romo suffered a herniated disk in his back the last time he faced Washington

The last time Tony Romo faced the Washington Redskins, in Week 16 of last year, it was one of his best days and one of his worst days.

On the one hand, Romo led the Cowboys on a game-winning drive for a 24-23 win to keep the team’s playoff hopes alive going into Week 17. On the other, late in that victory, Romo suffered a herniated disk in his back that would force him out of the win-and-in game against the Eagles and require surgery. Per ESPN Dallas, Romo says of that game, “sometimes I cringe thinking about it.

Romo added that he didn’t think his season was over when the team left the field after that win.

“Just part of playing professional sports, you’re playing in a game and you’re hurt or banged up or whatever and you just kind of play through it,” Romo said. “As a competitor you kind of feel like, ‘I’ll worry about it after the game,’ and you do everything you can. It felt like the season was on the line at the time so you kind of lay it on the line and you let the chips fall after the game. But definitely wants to feel playing like that every week. That would be a little more difficult.”
