Cowboys tight end Jason Witten was good enough on Sunday night that Eagles head coach Chip Kelly singled him out at the half, telling NBC’s Michele Tafoya that the Philly defense needed to do a better job of containing the veteran on third downs--of which he converted three in one scoring drive in the first half.

Witten finished with 69 yards on seven catches, in a performance that, at times, was reminiscent of those days when he played the role of Tony Romo’s security blanket.

Jason was incredible, just the way he ran his routes today," Romo said, per the Dallas Morning News. “His ability to use leverage, he had some juice and showed some speed. He made it difficult on them.

"The way they wanted to call the game had to change a little bit just because of his ability to beat his man, and that was just great to see because he’s been outstanding for so long, just to have it on a night like tonight where he was a guy that gave us such big third down key plays was great to see."
