Rolando McClain to Miss OTAs After Having Knee Scoped

McClain was back in Alabama when the Cowboys began OTAs on Tuesday

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain isn’t taking part in organized team activities, which began on Tuesday, as he rehabs his knee and deals with some personal issue.

Unbeknownst to us, McClain had his knee scoped recently to clean the joint up. Head coach Jason Garrett explained the veteran linebacker’s absence at Valley Ranch on Wednesday, per the Dallas Morning News, saying that McClain has been around at the team facility recently but that he’s now back home in Alabama.

A year ago, the Cowboys brought McClain out of retirement by way of a trade with the Baltimore Ravens to replace Sean Lee at middle linebacker, after Lee was lost for the season with a torn ACL, suffered in OTAs. McClain went on to start 12 games and record 81 tackles, a sack and two interceptions.

This season, the plan is for McClain to remain at middle linebacker and Lee to move to the weakside full time.
