Report: Witten “Not a Lock” to Play Against Falcons

We already know the Dallas Cowboys will be without quarterback Tony Romo and No. 1 receiver Dez Bryant when they host the Atalanta Falcons at AT&T Stadium on Sunday. Now, the Cowboys are reportedly uncertain that tight end Jason Witten will be able to go.

Witten came away from the win in Philly with two sprained ankles and a sprained knee, but he never left that game and finished with seven catches on eight targets for 56 yards. But ESPN’s Ed Werder reported Tuesday that it’s possible that the issue will keep Witten out.

"[Witten] will be day-to-day all week, but he's not a lock [to play] at this point," a source said.

For those of you keeping score, Witten has only missed one game due to injury in his 12-plus year NFL career, way back in his rookie year of 2003, when he had a broken jaw. And this stat isn’t the result of Witten never getting banged up, so the smart money is probably on Witten at least trying to play.
