Report: Timmy Jernigan to Visit Valley Ranch

Former Florida State defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan will fly into Dallas Monday night

Potential draft target, former Florida State defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan will make a pre-draft visit to Valley Ranch this week, according to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. A second-team All-American with the ‘Noles in 2013, Jernigan will fly into North Texas on Monday evening.

Aside from Pitt’s Aaron Donald (who visited Dallas last week), no defensive tackle in this year’s draft class has been linked to the Cowboys through mock drafts more than Jernigan. He finished last season with 63 tackles, 11 for a loss, and 4.5 sacks.

At 6-foot-2, 299 pounds, Jernigan isn’t exactly a giant for his position, but he is lauded for his strength on the inside.

From Jernigan’s NFL.com draft profile: “Slightly undersized, stoutly built, country-strong run stopper with the ability to drop anchor inside an odd front and develop into a solid, 3-4 movement nose tackle. Strength is his calling card despite his relatively modest size.”
