The Rangers are less than a week from Opening Day now, and it seems they've settled on a fifth starter in the rehabbed A.J. Griffin while turning to Robinson Chirinos and Chris Gimenez as their catchers, with Chirinos locked as the No. 1 guy.
But maybe not.
FoxSports' Ken Rosenthal tweeted on Monday evening that the Rangers are still very much in the search for some new faces before the season begins.

Huh, you say? Once Yu Darvish is back, they have five established guys and they'll only need a fifth starter a few times in April. But if someone goes down to injury, things get pretty hairy as far as depth is concerned. Even still, why look to add another starting pitcher right now?
Well, it didn't take long for Rosenthal to clear things up.

More on #Rangers: Per source, team thinks it has outside chance to get C and is doubtful to get SP - more likely to go internal for latter. — Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) March 28, 2016
That makes a little more sense. What's interesting here is whether the Rangers might be looking for a starting catcher to put in front of Chirinos like San Diego's Derek Norris or a backup upgrade for Gimenez.
