Report: Patriots Made Rolando McClain an Offer

McClain re-signed with the Cowboys this week after visiting the Patriots

When linebacker Rolando McClain opted to re-sign with the Dallas Cowboys this week, it apparently wasn’t for lack of other options.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, when McClain visited the New England Patriots on Monday, the reigning Super Bowl Champions made the veteran linebacker an offer. But ultimately McClain decided to return to Dallas where, last year, he put together a surprisingly impressive comeback campaign after retiring the year before and sitting out all of 2013.

On Thursday, McClain’s return became official, as he signed a one-year deal worth up to $4 million.

In 2014, after being signed to replace the injured Sean Lee, McClain posted 81 tackles--good enough for second on the team--as well as a pair of interceptions and a sack in 13 games.
