Report: Dodgers Believe Oswalt Is Texas-Bound

The Dodgers are one of a few teams to have expressed interest in free agent starter Roy Oswalt

Nothing’s official yet, but for what it’s worth, officials with the Los Angeles Dodgers are convinced Roy Oswalt is bound for Texas sooner than later.

The Dodgers are one of a few teams to have had Oswalt work out for them, the others being the Phillies and the Red Sox, but--barring the unforeseen--the team’s front office reportedly expects the former Astro and Phillie to land in DFW.

I would be shocked if he doesn’t go to Texas,” an unnamed official in contact with ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick said recently. “A team is going to have to greatly outbid Texas to keep him from going there.”

The Rangers have been in the market for a starter for at least a week, following the news that Neftali Feliz--who converted from a closer to a starter this season--would be out until perhaps the All-Star break with an elbow injury. In his absence, spot starter/long man Scott Feldman, who is scheduled to start Tuesday night against Seattle, hasn’t exactly been a model of consistency.

Considering all this, it’s no great surprise that both manager Ron Washington and GM Jon Daniels have expressed some interest in Oswalt.
