Report: Cowboys Have Inquired About Trading Up to No. 1 Pick

The Cowboys are one of four teams who have reached out to the Titans to discuss a potential trade

There’s been a good deal of talk that the Dallas Cowboys could trade out of the No. 4 pick in the draft later this month, but the thought has generally been that if they did, they would trade down.

But according to a report, they’re looking to move in the other direction.

Tony Pauline of Draft Insider reports that the Cowboys are one of four teams who have reached out to the Tennessee Titans to inquire about trading up to the No. 1 pick in the draft, along with the Philadelphia Eagles, the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets.

The Jets have the 20th overall pick currently, so they would be the least likely to be able to pull a trade to No. 1 off. The Cowboys are set to pick at No. 4, the Eagles No. 8 and the 49ers No. 7.

In the Cowboys’ case, it’s thought they would make this move in order to land Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey, who sits atop the team’s draft board. But they could also target quarterback Carson Wentz, who, according to Pauline, is their top ranked quarterback and in their top three overall.
