Report: Barry Church Ahead of Schedule in Rehab

Church suffered as season-ending Achilles tear back in week three

Safety Barry Church was in just his third game as a full-time starter for the Dallas Cowboys when his 2012 season was cut short by a torn Achilles.

He underwent surgery to repair the injury and missed the rest of the year, but apparently showed enough in those two and a half games to earn a good bit of confidence from the Dallas staff--and, even with Church on the IR, they put their money where their collective mouth was, giving him a four-year extension.

Now, head coach Jason Garrett says, Church is ahead of schedule in his rehab, and prepared to re-join the team as early as the beginning of the offseason conditioning program.

Ahead of schedule and doing great,” Garrett said of Church, per ESPN Dallas. “And he played really well for us when he played early on.”
