Rangers Up for MLB Network Year-End Awards

In a way, the MLB Network's GIBBY Awards, when compared to the BBWAA postseason awards are the MTV Movie Awards to the Oscars, or the MTV Video Music Awards to the Grammys. You get the picture. There are tons of categories and some that seem forced, but it's baseball and it's awards, so it's always going to be fun.

There are a couple of Rangers up for the more obscure awards, as both Leonys Martin and now-former Ranger Guilder Rodriguez are up for awards.

Rodriguez, of course, is up for "Best Moment" for his first major-league hit followed by his first major-league RBI with his family in attendance as a 31-year-old career minor-leaguer who was a September call-up.

Martin is up for the award for "Best Outfield Throw," which could've been one of many this year for the Cuban center fielder. The one that got the nod was his amazing throw to get a speedy Jose Reyes tagging from third base for an inning-ending double play.

The awards will be handed out on the night of Dec. 6 on the MLB Network at 7 p.m., so enjoy.
