Rangers' Top 3 Carry Offense

After Sunday's somewhat embarrassing loss to the lowly Houston Astros, there was a minor freakout across the Metroplex in regards to the Rangers' lack of offense, which saw them muster just six hits — all singles — against the Astros in an 8-2 loss to start the season.

After a day off on Monday, not only did Yu Darvish have a near-historic outing on Tuesday but the Rangers' offense came to life in a big way, getting everyone half off Papa John's today, thanks in large part to the top of their order.

Ian Kinsler, Elvis Andrus and Lance Berkman combined to go 8-for-12 with five RBIs, three runs and a walk apiece, setting the table for a big offensive night.

Astros Clinch Final AL Playoff Spot Despite Loss to Rangers

Texas High School Football Scores: Sept. 24-26

Kinsler had the biggest hit of the night when he turned a 1-0 nail-biter into a 3-0 Rangers lead in the seventh inning with a blast to left field that just narrowly stayed fair after Craig Gentry hit a one-out triple. In the top of the ninth, the trio gave Darvish even more cushion going into the bottom of the inning when Kinsler drew a leadoff walk and scored on an Andrus triple before Berkman drove him in with a single.

Berkman, specifically, has been an on-base machine through the first two games. Sure, it's just two games and they're against his former team that he's killed ever since he left, but it's a good sign to see him reaching base. With table setters like Kinsler and Andrus in front of him, Berkman could have quite a few RBIs this year if he stays healthy.
