Rangers Ship Teagarden to Minors

Ramirez coming up from the minors as a replacement.

The Texas Rangers announced catcher Taylor Teagarden is going back to the minors. The Rangers shipped Teagarden back to the team's minor league team in Oklahoma City.

The Rangers called up catcher Max Ramirez to fill Teagarden's spot on the roster. Ramirez has is batting .289 (13-45) with no home runs, 3 doubles, and 4 RBI in 13 games for the Oklahoma City RedHawks.

Teagarden was expected to battle teammate Jarrod Saltalamacchia for the starting catcher's job, but has been a disappointment so far this season. Teagarden batted .037 (1-27) in 10 games for Texas this season.

In addition to those moves, the Rangers reinstated Saltalamacchia who will spend time in Oklahoma City recovering from a back injury. Saltalamacchia has been on the disabled list since April 8 with upper back stiffness.
