Rangers Pass in Rule 5 Draft

In last year's Rule 5 draft to close the MLB Winter Meetings, the Texas Rangers lost a gem in the form of infielder-turned-outfielder Odubel Herrera, who was taken from them by the Phillies and ended up being a starter in center field.

But no worries, because the Rangers stole infielder-turned-outfielder Delino DeShields from the Houston Astros and made him their starting center fielder and leadoff hitter before he earned Rangers Rookie of the Year honors by the DFW chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

This year's Rule 5 draft on Thursday was far less eventful from a Rangers' perspective, as they passed on their selection despite having a few open spots on their 40-man roster.
