Rangers Off to Play Hottest Team in Baseball

The Los Angeles Angels have played 18 games in July. They've won 14 of them. Before their loss to Minnesota on Thursday afternoon, the Angels had won seven straight games and had overtaken the Houston Astros for first place in the AL West.

Those numbers pretty much sum up the fact that Angels are the hottest team in baseball, and that's what the Rangers have to deal with beginning Friday night in Anaheim.

But here's the thing. The last time the Rangers played the hottest team in baseball on the road, they swept the Houston Astros in Houston and snapped their nine-game winning streak.

That set off a tremendous May and early-June run for the Rangers that got them right into the thick of the AL Wild Card and AL West races.

Of course, they've fallen out since, but a similar series this weekend could possibly spark another big run.

If things go poorly for the Rangers this weekend, it'll likely be the end of the road for their playoff hopes.
