Rangers Hope to Have Manager by October

With every passing day and with every Texas Rangers win as they close the season on this hot streak that currently has them riding a streak of 10 wins in their past 11 games, it seems more and more likely that interim manager Tim Bogar will eventually be named the Rangers manager moving forward.

Bogar, of course, stepped in for the departed Ron Washington, who abruptly and unexpectedly resigned on Sept. 5 over a personal matter that we later learned was infidelity in his marriage, and has since posted a winning record in his near three weeks on the job.

On Tuesday, the Rangers laid out a timeline for naming a new manager, whether it's Bogar or someone else, as Fox Sports Southwest reported. General manager Jon Daniels said the team hopes to have a full-time manager at some point in October so they can move on with their off-season business.

At this point, Bogar seems to be a pretty big frontrunner, especially after another name being thrown around, Michael Young, withdrew his name from consideration on Tuesday. Bogar has been a managerial candidate before and has worked for some of the game's best managers, including Terry Francona and Joe Maddon.

So whether it's Oct. 1 or Oct. 31, the Rangers appear to be moving quickly on filling the void left by Washington, and we'll know soon enough if it's Bogar or someone from the outside.
