Things suddenly aren't going too great for the Texas Rangers, and while it's not time to freak out, things don't get much better on Thursday afternoon in the series finale with the Oakland A's.
The last-place A's will be looking for a three-game sweep of second-place Texas, and they'll send their ace to the hill to secure it in the form of 25-year-old righty Sonny Gray.
Gray leads the American League with a 1.95 ERA this year and has been absolute hell on the Rangers over the course of his career.
This season, Gray has made three starts against Texas. He nearly no-hit them on Opening Day, and he holds a 2-1 record against them this year with a 0.87 ERA. The dominance hasn't just been this year. Over his career, Gray is 6-3 in nine career starts against Texas with a 1.68 ERA.
Colby Lewis is pitching well right now, and he'll pitch opposite Gray on Thursday, but the Rangers have an uphill battle to avoid a sweep and seeing their losing streak pushed to five games.
