The Los Angeles Angels are struggling. There's no other way to say it.
They've dropped two games in the AL Wild Card standings in the last week, they've won just four of their last 10 games and that was boosted by the fact they've won two straight against last-place Oakland. Now, they're set to host one of the hottest teams in baseball in second-place Rangers, who have a golden opportunity in front of them.
With a big series this weekend in The Big A, the Rangers can all but bury their hated AL West rivals.

The Rangers currently have a 3 1/2-game lead over the Angels in the divisional standings, but more importantly in the race for the second AL Wild Card spot. A Rangers sweep would put the Angels 6 1/2 games out and all but finished. Even a series win would put the Rangers' lead at 4 1/2 games with less than a month to play.
With the Rangers' lineup cooking right now and the fact they're facing two starters this weekend (Jered Weaver and Hector Santiago) who are coming off terrible outings, you have to like the Rangers' chances at a series win, and if that happens, you might as well say goodbye to the Angels.
