Rangers Had A 2015 To Remember, And Forget

Lots of highs from the Rangers’ 2015. And, unfortunately, a couple of epic lows.

The good news is that two of their games made Yahoo!’s Top 10 Games of 2015. Bad news? Yep, both losses.

No. 8 on the list was the Rangers’ collapse against the Angels in Game No. 161. With a four-run lead heading into the 9th inning it seemed inevitable that Texas would clinch on the glorious afternoon of Oct. 3. But starting a rally with back-to-back homers against fatigued closer Shawn Tolleson, the Angels rallied for five runs in an 11-10 win. The Rangers closed the deal the following day, but in not nearly as dramatic fashion.

And, of course, not surprising that the Rangers’ Game 5 ALDS loss to the Blue Jays topped the list at No. 1. Sure enough, the 7th-inning collapse — punctuated by Jose Bautista’s exaggerated bat flip — was baseball’s most memorable game of the season. Tie game at 2-2 in top of the 7th before Rougned Odor raced home with the go-ahead run on a crazy, deflected catcher’s throw back to the pitcher. And then … well, you know. No need to recall the three errors and the gut-wrenching loss.
