Randle Welcomes Jerry Jones' Comments About Run Game

Jerry Jones said earlier this week that the Cowboys need more from the run game

Earlier this week, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called publicly for his team to run the football more and more effectively in the absence of franchise quarterback Tony Romo, who suffered a fractured collarbone in last Sunday’s 20-10 victory over the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Joseph Randle, who led the Cowboys with 51 yards on 18 carries, welcomes the message.

I mean Jerry is the man, so whatever he says probably goes,” Randle told the team’s official website. “I’m with that.”

This time last year, DeMarco Murray had 285 yards and two touchdowns on 51 carries through two games. Randle, splitting carries with Darren McFadden, has 116 yards on 34 carries. His carries figure to grow in Romo’s absence, and he loves the idea of more carries, but he wants to make clear he’s not about to demand anything.

“Of course you want more carries, and all of that kind of good stuff,” Randle said. “But I’m also a team player. Whatever is best for the team, I think that’s the top priority. It’s top priority for me to be a team player and not be the type of person to be in here crying about carries and all of this different stuff.”
