Projection Time: One-Third Point

The Rangers are 53 games through their season and are sitting in a tie for first in the AL West standings with a 31-22 record. That means Saturday will mark the one-third point of the season.

We'll start with the big bats in the lineup:

Prince Fielder — 52 games, 14 runs, 37 hits in 195 at-bats (.190), 11 doubles, 3 home runs, 28 RBIs, 38 strikeouts, 18 walks.

Projected Fielder — 42 runs, 111 hits in 585 at-bats, 33 doubles, 9 home runs, 84 RBIs.

Fielder's projections have dropped off since the quarter point of the season a couple of weeks ago. That's bad news.

Adrian Beltre — 53 games, 27 runs, 56 hits in 201 at-bats (.279), 12 doubles, 9 home runs, 35 RBIs, 20 strikeouts, 15 walks.

Projected Beltre — 81 runs, 168 hits in 603 at-bats (.279), 36 doubles, 27 home runs, 105 RBIs, 60 strikeouts, 45 walks.

Beltre is right on pace for another all-star caliber season in his age 37 season. He's a beast.

Rougned Odor — 46 games, 31 runs, 49 hits in 187 at-bats (.262), 11 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs, 25 RBIs, 32 strikeouts, 5 walks.

Projected Odor — 93 runs, 147 hits in 561 at-bats (.262), 33 doubles, 3 triples, 21 home runs, 75 RBIs, 96 strikeouts, 15 walks.

Odor has only played five games since the quarter-pole because of his suspension, and he got just a couple of hits in 20 at-bats during that time. He will return Saturday and hopefully have a fresh mind.

Ian Desmond — 52 games, 38 runs, 60 hits in 206 at-bats (.291), 14 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs, 33 RBIs, 47 strikeouts, 14 walks, 10 stolen bases in 11 tries.

Projected Desmond — 114 runs, 180 hits in 618 at-bats, 42 doubles, 3 triples, 21 home runs, 99 RBIs, 30 steals in 33 tries.

Desmond has been the unquestioned MVP of the Rangers this year after getting off to a terrible start through his first 12 games as a Ranger. Since then, he's been a stud.

Nomar Mazara — 45 games, 22 runs, 52 hits in 174 at-bats (.299), 3 doubles, 9 home runs, 24 RBIs, 34 strikeouts, 13 walks.

Projected Mazara — 66 runs, 156 hits in 522 at-bats, 9 doubles, 27 home runs, 72 RBIs.

Mazara got a bit of a delayed start, but he's been amazing since starting his Rangers career. The evidence? Try AL Rookie of the Month awards for both April and May.

As for pitchers, the Rangers have two pitchers on pace for 200 innings (Colby Lewis and Cole Hamels) while Martin Perez would fall just short at 198 innings. Hamels would finish with more than 216 strikeouts.
