Profar Likely Coming, Could He Hit Leadoff?

Jurickson Profar was in the lineup at Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday and he was playing second base and hitting in the leadoff spot.

One of those roles will almost definitely be Profar's in Arlington on Friday, as the former top prospect is likely to be recalled in Rougned Odor's absence due to his suspension. Profar will definitely be manning second base if he's called up, but he could slide right into the leadoff role for the Rangers, as well.

Profar went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout on Wednesday, and it was likely his last showing before playing in his first major-league game since 2013 when the Rangers open a series against the Pirates on Friday.

Profar has been good this year and is re-establishing his value as a prospect. He's batting .284 with a .356 on-base percentage in 41 Triple-A games this year. He has nine doubles, five homers and 26 RBIs to go with 28 runs. He's struck out only 26 times and has walked 16 times.

If Profar comes up and plays well, it'd put him in a prime position to be traded in a blockbuster this summer as teams slowly begin to remember he was the top prospect in all of baseball just a few short years ago before a shoulder ailment derailed him.
