Scherzer is in an interesting case. He's probably going to win the AL Cy Young Award, ahead of Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish. He's arbitration-eligible but isn't a free agent until after the 2015 season, which would mean the Rangers could have two years of control for him. He would obviously fit right into the top of the Rangers' starting rotation, being a 1a to Darvish, or perhaps a 1 to Darvish's 1a. However you look at it, they'd be a phenomenal 1-2 punch atop the rotation. Follow that with Martin Perez, Derek Holland and Matt Harrison, and you have a really nice rotation.
Of course, you'd have give up quite a bit to get Scherzer, starting with Jurickson Profar, which would fit in nicely with the Tigers, whose middle infield situation could use an upgrade. It might also involve someone like Holland.
It would take a lot to get done and there would be a lot of moving parts in a deal, but it's something that could happen as the Tigers have been rumored to be considering moving Scherzer this winter.
