Potential Target: Kendrys Morales

In an ongoing series, we'll take a look at possible free-agent and trade targets for the Texas Rangers this winter.

Target: Kendrys Morales, DH

2014 stats: .218 batting average, .274 on-base percentage, 20 doubles, eight home runs, 42 RBIs in 98 games

Morales had a windy road through the 2014 season. When the season began, he was still unemployed after a nice 2013 season in Seattle when he hit .277 with 20 homers. He was finally signed to a deal in the summer by the Minnesota Twins, played 39 uneventful games and then was shipped off to Seattle in a post-deadline deal.

Back in Seattle, Morales found his power groove again, as he hit seven bombs in 59 games. He's probably not the player he was in 2012 and 2013, but he could be a nice piece to add at a cheap price to be a primary DH for a team that is otherwise looking at Mitch Moreland in that spot. Morales is a switch-hitter and, if he can be had at the right price, could be a great bargain for the Rangers this winter.
