Potential Target: Daniel Nava

The Rangers' top winter priority is upgrading its starting pitching but they're also going to be looking for a bat.

Target: Daniel Nava, OF/1B

2014 stats: .270 batting average, .346 on-base percentage, 21 doubles, four home runs, 37 RBIs

There are some big names who have recently gone off the free agent and trade market who could've made a big splash if they were signed by the Rangers to fill a vacant corner outfielder spot.

Then, there are guys like Daniel Nava, which is more along the lines of what the Rangers are likely in on in free agency and trade. They seem to feel comfortable with guys like Ryan Rua, Jake Smolinski and even Mitch Moreland in the corner outfield situation, but adding a veteran certainly wouldn't hurt matters.

Nava has been a good player for the Red Sox in recent years, and was even a .300-plus hitter in 2013 with 12 homers and would be a nice fit in the Rangers' outfield picture. And he's controllable through 2018 so wouldn't just be a rental if he could pried away from Boston.
