Potential Target: Chris Long

In an ongoing thread of posts, we'll discuss potential free agent targets for the Dallas Cowboys coming off a 4-12 season, thanks in large part to several key injuries.

Target: Chris Long, DE
2015 stats: 19 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble in 12 games

Long was surprisingly cut loose by the Rams last week, making him a free agent just a handful of years after he was selected No. 2 overall in the 2008 NFL Draft.

The son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long, Chris Long had his run of success with the Rams before injuries got the best of him the past two seasons, when he played in just 18 games combined. But before that, the former Virginia star had a four-season run when he averaged just more than 10 sacks per year.

At age 30, he's getting up there but he's still got some good years left in him if he can stay healthy, and he could be a nice fit for the Cowboys at the right price this offseason.
