Potential Target: Carl Crawford

In an ongoing series, we'll take a look at possible free-agent and trade targets for the Texas Rangers this winter.

Target: Carl Crawford, OF

2014 stats: .300 batting average, .339 on-base percentage, .767 OPS, 14 doubles, 8 home runs, 46 RBIs, 105 games

The 32-year-old isn't quite the player he used to be, thanks to aging legs and several injury-filled seasons, so he's not quite worthy of his nickname "The Perfect Storm" anymore, but he can still be a dangerous player, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to unload one of the outfielders, where they have a surplus of proven big-leaguers since the arrival of Yasiel Puig in 2013.

Crawford isn't the base-stealer he once was, when he was swiping 50 bags a year like it was no problem, but he did manage 23 in 2014 and was caught just six times — not bad at all. He has gap power and he could be a big piece, if healthy, while filling a corner outfield role for the Rangers.

Crawford has been tied to the Rangers because the Dodgers have been tied to Elvis Andrus, who is part of a surplus of middle infielders in the Rangers' organization.
