Pollack on La'el Collins: “The More He Plays, the Better He'll Be”

Shortly after the signing of La’el Collins back in May, Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett declared that the LSU product wasn’t coming into a waiting starting job. Instead, he’d have to find his place on a line that was widely believed to be the best in football in 2014.

Garrett stuck to his word as the incumbent left guard, Ron Leary, never let go of his starting job throughout training camp and into this season. Until now.

In the same press conference in which he announced the move from Brandon Weeden to Matt Cassel last week, Garrett added that Collins will take over as starter on the other side of the bye week.

Cowboys first year offensive line coach Frank Pollack recently explained what led to naming Collins the starter.

“He’s made a lot of good progress in his technique, his body control and position, his balance,” Pollack told the team’s official website. “He’s done a lot of growing as far as his awareness to schemes and what teams are doing. He’s going to continue to grow. The more he plays, the better he’ll be.”
