Perez Looking For Revenge in ALDS Rematch

Tuesday evening's game north of the border between the Rangers and Blue Jays obviously has a lot of intrigue.

First off, it's the second meeting of the teams who battled it out for the maximum five games in last year's ALDS, which saw the Blue Jays overcome an 0-2 hole to win the series in five games in heartbreaking fashion, if you're a Rangers fan.

Second, it features the same pitching matchup: Martin Perez vs. Marco Estrada.

Last year, Estrada won the battle as he allowed just one run over six relatively easy innings with four Ks and no walks, while Perez gave up four runs in five innings of work with three walks and just two Ks as the Blue Jays kept their season alive with a 5-1 win.

Walking more than he strikes out has become a concern for Perez, and it's been the case in a lot of his outings this year.

The third reason it's big? Well, it's crazy to say but Perez could be pitching for his spot in the rotation over his next few starts. Yu Darvish is set to return at the end of the month, and A.J. Griffin has been the Rangers' best starter so far and is going nowhere.

Perez will need better fortune against the Blue Jays on Tuesday night, or it could be the beginning of the end of his status as a Rangers starter.
