Patrick Sharp “Real Close,” Won't Return Against Kings

The Stars' winger has been sidelined with a lower body injury since February 29

Stars coach Lindy Ruff made it known this week there was a chance Patrick Sharp would return to the ice on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings, after missing the past couple weeks with a lower body injury, but with that matchup just hours away, the team has apparently decided he’s not quite ready.

He’s real close,” Ruff told the team’s official website. “Won’t play tonight.”

The Kings come in as the top team in the Pacific Division, and on the heels of a big weekend for the Stars, in which they faced their two biggest nemeses in the West in a span of 48 hours, beating the Blackhawks 5-2 on Friday and losing in overtime to the Blues on Saturday.

“These are hard games but in the end, it is fun playing against those teams,” Stars forward Ales Hemsky said. “It’s a good test for us before the playoffs. If we can play the way we did the last couple games against those big teams and get better, we’ll be ready.”
