A month ago, while at a family wedding in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado, we noticed the Colorado Rockies were in town to play the equally bad Milwaukee Brewers.
So, when in Rome, right?
Now, the Texas Rangers are heading to play the Rockies — just a month late for me to do a Rangers road trip. But if you're going up there, here's what you need to know.
First off, depending on what experience you want and how much you want to spend, there are numerous seating options. One fun place seems to be the Rockpile, a fairly new section perched high in the outfield seats that is standing room only. In short, think the party deck at AT&T Stadium for Cowboys games, minus the go-go dancers. If you're there with a bunch of buddies, it might be a good option. If you're there with your family and children, maybe not so much.
One cool thing to go see: The row of seats in the upper deck that is designated by purple seats. That line of seats is at the mile elevation mark, and truly lets you get a taste of the Mile High City.
What to eat? If you want to be adventurous and get some local flavor, look no further than the Rocky Mountain Oysters. If you're not sure what those are, google it, but don't be scared. They aren't too bad.
Lastly, cheer for your Rangers. They really, really need to win this series, and almost need a sweep of the lousy Rockies.
