On Deck: Philadelphia Eagles

On Deck will be here all season to provide you with everything you need to know (and a few things you don't) about every Cowboys game during the 2015 season.

The Opponent: The Eagles, and their new offensive personnel, got off to a horrid start in their opener on Monday night before a furious rally fell short as they fell to 0-1 with a loss on the road in Atlanta.

Past Meetings: The Cowboys are 60-48 all time against the Eagles with a 3-1 mark in the postseason. The teams have split the season series the past two years.

Who's Hot: Tony Romo was fantastic on Sunday night in the Cowboys' come-from-behind win over the Giants. He threw for 356 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner with seven seconds left. He did have two interceptions but both were passes right off the hands of his receivers. Joseph Randle was good in his debut as the Cowboys' starting running back, totaling more than 100 yards, while Lance Dunbar showed his talent as a receiver with 70 yards, including several big gains on the game-winning drive. Sean Lee led the Cowboys with nine tackles in his return from a torn ACL that forced him to miss all of 2014.

Jordan Matthews seemed to be the star in waiting in Philly's receiver corps, and on Monday night he lived up to the billing with 10 catches for 102 yards. Of all the Eagles' new running backs, it was the lone survivor from last year, Darren Sproles, who stood out. He was the team's leading rusher with 50 yards and was the second-leading receiver with 76 yards.

Who's Not: The Cowboys will need Devin Street to step up in the absence of Dez Bryant. He had a big chance to do that on Sunday night but instead was responsible for one of Romo's two picks as a ball was in his hands and then out of them just as quickly. Jeremy Mincey had just one tackle and a really, really stupid personal foul penalty that appeared to lock the game up for the Giants before they blew it.

Former Cowboy and the defending NFL rushing champ DeMarco Murray had eight carries for 9 yards with a long of 8 yards — not good at all. He did have a rushing touchdown as well as a receiving touchdown, but it was not encouraging for Eagles fans.
