On Deck: New York Giants

On Deck will be here all season to provide you with everything you need to know (and a few things you don't) about every Cowboys game during the 2015 season.

The Opponent: The Giants are limping into the regular season with a whole lot of question marks. One thing that is for certain? They will throw the ball and score points with a loaded receiving corps highlighted by second-year star Odell Beckham Jr. with Victor Cruz and Reuben Randle also in the mix. The defense, on the other hand? Yuck. Jason Pierre-Paul most likely won't be ready after blowing his finger off this summer, and the entire starting secondary is banged up with some pretty serious stuff.

Past Meetings: The Cowboys hold a 61-43-2 advantage in the series against the Giants, and Dallas has won four straight meetings — scoring season sweeps the last two years. Those four games have been separated by 21 points, so they're always close.

Key Matchup: Cowboys QB Tony Romo vs. Giants secondary — Romo is fresh, having barely played in the preseason. In their third preseason game, Romo played well, though. The Giants secondary, as mentioned above, is wrecked with injury and will be playing with some no-names that Romo, Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams will have to exploit and should be able to with relative ease.

Who's Hot: The Cowboys' defensive line looks really legit and really deep. Greg Hardy's suspension to start the year will hurt that depth, but they're still looking really solid with the Crawfords, Mincey and rookie rush-end Randy Gregory, who had a tremendous preseason. That's going to be key, because if given time, Eli Manning and his receivers will tear Dallas apart without Orlando Scandrick.

Odell Beckham missed the first few games of his rookie year last season, but once his hamstring got well, he put together one of the finest rookie seasons for a wideout in NFL history. Had he played the entire season and produced like he did when he was actually on the field, he would've made folks forget about Randy Moss' superb rookie season.

Who's Not: The Cowboys are a mess at running back, and they're going to have a lot of questions coming their way if they can't get it together. Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden both showed flashes in the preaseason, and Randle seems to be the lead guy, but neither could stay healthy this summer. The Cowboys went as far as to trade for Seattle backup Christine Michael, who's done next to nothing in his two seasons behind Marshawn Lynch.

The Giants' defense is going to be a mess this year, and it all starts in the backfield. Tony Romo should have a field day as long as his line can give him time, and that shouldn't be much of a problem. Look for lots of throwing, and lots of big plays in the passing game.
