On Deck will be here all season to provide you with everything you need to know (and a few things you don't) about every Rangers series during the 2015 season.
The Opponent: The Diamondbacks are under .500 and in third place in a weak NL West and have split their last 10 games.
Past Meetings: The teams split four games back in 2013 with the Rangers winning two in Arlington and the Diamondbacks winning a scheduled doubleheader in Arizona.
Connecting you to your favorite North Texas sports teams as well as sports news around the globe.
Pitching Matchups: Tuesday — Robbie Ray (2-4, 2.55 ERA) vs. Yovani Gallardo (7-6, 2.56); Wednesday — Jeremy Hellickson (6-5, 5.06) vs. Matt Harrison (2015 debut).
What's Hot: Rougned Odor is batting .320 with two doubles and a homer over his past six games and has continued his unbelievably successful return to the big leagues. Shin-Soo Choo has turned things around over the last week, buoyed by homers in three straight games in Baltimore. Over his past six games, he's hitting .304. Gallardo is riding a scoreless-inning streak of 29 1/3 innings and will look to continue it Tuesday night.
Nick Ahmed, the Diamondbacks' light-hitting shortstop, is batting .385 over the last seven games with a double and two homers. Cuban import Yasmani Tomas has two homers and a team-high eight RBIs over that time. Hellickson gave up one run in seven innings of work his last time out.
What's Not: Elvis Andrus is batting .080 over his last seven games. Ryan Rua, who's been seeing time in left field with Josh Hamilton being day-to-day, is struggling to the tune of a .182 batting average. He does have two homers in that time.
The Diamondbacks' lineup is pretty much all hitting the ball well right now, which is potentially bad news for a hobbling Rangers' pitching staff.
Familiar Faces: Jarrod Saltalamacchia was the key piece of the famed Mark Teixeira trade with the Atlanta Braves. He never really caught on with Texas, as the trade quickly became known as the Matt Harrison/Neftali Feliz/Elvis Andrus trade, instead.
