For the first time since 2009, when the Dallas Cowboys basically landed their entire roster on the Pro Bowl team, the Cowboys had three offensive linemen selected to the Pro Bowl roster when teams were announced on Tuesday.
And it's no coincidence that those three -- Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin -- are the team's first-round draft picks in the last three seasons, respectively.
For the team that has long been known as a master of botching the draft, the selections were a serious piece of validation for the Cowboys' front office, including everyone's favorite GM/owner Jerry Jones.
The Cowboys' offensive line is widely known as one of the best in football, and now it's been proven from a league-wide perspective with the Pro Bowl selections for the three youngsters. Of course, they've been a huge part of DeMarco Murray's huge year on the ground and will be the first people for Murray to thank after he likely passes Emmitt Smith on Sunday for the franchise's all-time single-season rushing mark.
"It’s a great honor and it’s a great feeling to be a part of something like this with all the big names and everybody associated with it,” Frederick told ESPN Dallas. “To be able to be in that class is special. You know what’s awesome? Just getting to see all the rest of the guys, too. It’s very cool. It’s very special.”
