Odor Has Rough Night in Winter Ball

Because of Jurickson Profar's lost season and Rougned Odor's surprising one, it seems likely that the 20-year-old Odor has passed up the 21-year-old Profar, formerly baseball's top prospect, as the guy in line to be the Rangers' second baseman of the future. That's for the time being, anyway.

While Profar isn't able to play winter ball either, Odor is thriving in Venezuela. But on Wednesday night, the young second baseman had a rare rough night on the diamond.

First off, he saw his 13-game hitting streak come to an end, which dropped his average to .340. To make matters worse, Odor had a rough night in the field with three errors — two on botched ground balls and another when he failed to catch a ball thrown from the catcher to nab a baserunner.

This obviously has no bearing on his standing as the club's second baseman, but it was an uncharacteristic night for the young player, who normally looks to be well beyond his years on the field.
