Odor Could be in Line for Extension Soon

Rougned Odor really came into his own over the second half of the 2015 season and he might have been one of the most exciting young players in the postseason.

Odor is cheap, cheap, cheap and he's that way for a while to come. With that said, the Rangers should start considering when they might want to give Odor a good-faith extension and buy out his arbitration years at a good price, similar to what they did with Martin Perez.

From mid-June on last season, Odor was one of the best hitters from a middle infield spot in all of baseball. He finished the year with 21 doubles, nine triples, 16 homers and 61 RBIs in 120 games, with most of that damage coming in about 80 games.

Maybe more importantly, at age 21, Odor is already showing signs of being a clubhouse leader. He plays with a fierce edge and looks to have all kinds of Adrian Beltre in his makeup and character, which of course is an awesome thing.

He will almost certainly be an all-star in the next 2-3 years at second base, and it's for that reason the Rangers might not want to press their luck with him and lock him up while it's still relatively cheap to do so.
