Odor Continues Tear Since Return to Bigs

A quick look at Rougned Odor's season statistics would suggest he's just one of several Rangers who are struggling at the plate this year. But that wouldn't be a fair look.

You see, Odor's 2015 can basically be split into two different seasons. There was April, when he entered with pretty high expectations following a surprisingly solid rookie year and sputtered out of the gates to hit .144 before being sent down to Triple-A Round Rock to try to rediscover the strike zone after fanning 25 times with seven walks in 25 starts.

Odor was demoted after his May 8 game with the Rangers and was recalled on June 15 to face the Los Angeles Dodgers. In that game, he went 3-for-3, and he hasn't let up since.

In his 12 games since his recall — 10 starts — Odor has been fantastic. He's batting .395 in that time with a .442 on-base percentage. He has four strikeouts and three walks, as he's demonstrated a clear improvement in strike zone recognition. He has three doubles, two home runs and nine RBIs in that time and has been one of the Rangers' most productive hitters, even getting some starts in the leadoff spot with Leonys Martin and Shin-Soo Choo struggling and Delino DeShields injured. He has four multi-hit games and three with three hits.

It's been pretty amazing to watch, and while he won't keep up this torrid pace, that low strikeout total and almost equal walk total is very encouraging for a guy who appeared lost for the first month of the season.
