Reports last week had the NFL releasing the 2014 regular season schedule on Tuesday. Obviously, that didn’t happen.
Instead, in keeping with the league’s time-honored stance of “we’ll release the schedule when we release the schedule,” the announcement is set for Wednesday night.
Adding some interest to the matter is that, as David Moore of the Dallas Morning News points out, the release (at 7 PM Central on NFL Network) conflicts with the tip-off for the Dallas Mavericks’ game two matchup with the San Antonio Spurs. Mavs’ owner Mark Cuban, of course, made headlines when he suggested the NFL was diluting its product and predicted a major downfall for the league in the next ten years.
Of course we can’t know if Roger Goodell is having some fun with Cuban here, but we certainly wouldn’t put it past him.
Anyway, the Cowboys already know their opponents for next season. Aside from their six division games, they’ll host the Cardinals, 49ers, Texans, Colts and Saints. They’ll travel to face the Rams, the Seahawks, the Jaguars (in London), the Titans and the Bears.
