NFC East Watch: ‘Skins Plan to Get Garcon the Ball Early & Often

Pierre Garcon finished with 68 catches last year after posting 113 in 2013

In Jay Gruden’s first year as Redskins head coach last year, Pierre Garcon’s production fell dramatically.

Granted, some of that has to do with the team’s acquisition of DeSean Jackson, and the team’s situation at quarterback was shaky at best--they went through three starters last year. But in 2013, Garcon had led the NFL with 113 catches. In 2014, he had just 68.

Now, according to those who have watched the Redskins’ offseason, Gruden seems committed to getting Garcon’s production back up. When asked about the duo of Garcon and Jackson recently, Gruden went out of his way to praise the former.

I’m impressed, especially with Pierre,” Gruden told the Washington Post. “Pierre has been here every day, working his tail off, doing a great job.”

Gruden went on to say of the Jackson-Garcon tandem, “We’re going to demand a lot from them.”
