NFC East Watch: Michel Vick Moving on From Philly?

Vick is set to become a free agent in March

After five seasons, it looks like Michael Vick’s time in Philadelphia is over.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, in the wake of the Eagles’ 26-24 Wild Card loss to the Saints over the weekend, Vick didn’t come right out and say he was as good as gone. But the free agent-to-be did use the past tense when speaking about his time with the team.

“It’s hard to sum up my time here. Everything has been so surreal and has happened so abruptly,” Vick said, per Philadelphia Magazine. “The thing I do know is I appreciate the fans, I appreciate this organization, I appreciate the relationships and the teammates I’ve been able to [have] in this locker room. There’s a lot of guys in here I’ll always keep in contact with and I’ll consider my brothers.”

The problem for Vick is, he still wants to be a starter in this league--and with the emergence of Nick Foles in 2013, that’s not going to happen in Philly.

“My desire is to start,” said Vick. “I’m 33, I still feel good, and the way I’ve been able to take care of my body this year, the things that I’ve learned from, the nutrition aspect of everything, really has given me another jumpstart. I feel good, I still know I can play and I’m just confident in what I can do based on what I do every day. I feel like I’m built to do this, and just want to continue to keep it going. I’m not finished.”
