New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is set to enter the final year of his contract, but the two sides remain far apart on an extension and, according to Dan Graziano of, the team is just fine with allowing the two-time Super Bowl winner to play out the 2015 season without a new deal.

This doesn’t mean the Giants plan on letting Manning get away after next season. Not at all. According to the aforementioned report, they still view the 34-year-old as their franchise quarterback, and want him to retire as a Giant.

"My basic feeling is he's our quarterback and I would like him to be our quarterback for as long as he can do it physically," head coach Tom Coughlin told “NFL Total Access” on NFL Network this week. "Whatever it takes to cause him to be confident of his future--that's what I want done."
